These original elements have been preserved and still help maintain the historical atmosphere of the site.
In 1984, the botanical garden officially opened to the public and soon became one of the country’s most notable arboretums. From that point, White Rock Lake became a vital water source for Dallas and nearby areas. In 1929, the land surrounding the lake was designated as a municipal park. Over time, walking and biking trails, picnic areas, kayak and canoe launch points, and paddleboarding opportunities were added. Swimming has been prohibited since 1952.

Klyde Warren Park: A Green Oasis in the Heart of the City
